Arthur Drummond

Arthur Drummond (1871-1951), peintre britannique classique, est né à Bristol en 1871. Il s'est spécialisé dans des scènes d'histoire et, comme Alma-Tadema, plusieurs de ses travaux représentent l'Egypte, la Grèce ou la Rome antique. Cette œuvre s'intitule imagination victorienne ; 2 jeunes femmes habillées de vêtements antiques nourissent des oiseaux exotiques sur les rives luxuriantes d'un fleuve. Cette peinture a été exécutée alors que Drummond avait à peine 22 ans. Pendant sa carrière, Drummond a exposé à l'académie royale, la Société royale des artistes (Birmingham) et à l'institut royal.
Arthur Drummond (1871-1951), a british Classicist Painter, was born in Bristol in 1871. Drummond specialized in history/genre scenes and, like Alma-Tadema, many of his works were set in ancient Egypt, Greece or Rome. Illustrated here is his painting titled Victorian Fantasy; a work featuring 2 young women dressed in ancient attire feeding exotic birds by the edge of a lushly foliated river. This painting was executed when Drummond was just 22 years old and beautifully displays his artistic ability and imagination; something many artists would never achieve.During his career, Drummond exhibited works at the Royal Academy; Royal Society of Artists, Birmingham; and the Royal institute of Oil Painters.
