Cenote Ik'kil

Les cénotes (du maya dz'onot via l'espagnol cenote) sont des gouffres ou avens remplis d'une couche superficielle d'eau douce et parfois d'une couche inférieure d'eau de mer (s'ils communiquent avec l'océan par des failles[1]). On les trouve en Amérique du Nord et centrale, et plus particulièrement dans la péninsule du Yucatán au Mexique. Ils font office de puits naturels qui peuvent atteindre plusieurs dizaines de mètres de profondeur.(wikipedia)
A cenote (English pronunciation: /sɨˈnoʊtiː/ or /sɛˈnoʊteɪ/; Spanish: [seˈnote]; plural: cenotes; from Yucatec Maya dzonot or ts'onot,[1] meaning "well"[2]) is a sinkhole with exposed rocky edges containing groundwater. It is typically found in the Yucatán Peninsula and some nearby Caribbean islands. The term is derived from a word used by the low-land Yucatec Maya to refer to any location where groundwater is accessible.(wikipedia)

This is perfect place for swimming in the clear blue water. This natural swimming pool is 196 feet wide and about 130 feet deep, it is an open cenote about 85 feet from the surface. The Mayan Pool is popular tourist destination. The pool was used by Red bull to host their Cliff Diving World Series in 2012. Participants from around the world came there and experienced the thrilling adventure. Here are some more photos: http://www.worldfortravel.com/2013/06/27/ik-kil-cenote-narural-pool-of-mexico/
